New transmission grid project will open up for large wind power projects.

The New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands Patrick Lyons today signed an agreement that will pave the way for large amounts of renewable energy throughout the South-Central United States. The project, Tres Amigas Superstation, TASS, will be located on state trust land in CurryCounty on the border of New Mexico and Texas. It will become the largest power convertor in the world, and enable half of the United States to access vast wind and solar energy resources.t

This is exciting news for the Mariah project under development, as it potentially could open up for connecting the whole Mariah project located in Parmer county with a possible extension into New Mexico. This could solve the whole grid issue which has been a major concern for the Mariah project, and significantly speed up the development process.

Norway: A new 200 MW project were notified to the regulator.
This represents an important first step for the application for concession in Norway. The 200 MW project ("Tonstad Vindpark"), located in the Sirdal municipality in Vest Agder on the south coast, will be subject to review by the regulator over the next 6-10 months. Subsequently an environmental and social impact assessment program will be submitted, which, when completed, will form the backbone of the concession application.

The project is located in a municipality with some of the best hydro power resources in Norway. This will enable the local and regional power operators to work the two power resources together, thus increasing the value of both. Wind power liberate hydro power which can then be exported to Europe at times with favourable prices.
